A new breed of tape. Sony raises the bar in HD production and post production. Quite simply, HD SR Series cassettes contain the most advanced metal particle tape in Sony’s ½” broadcast family of professional tape products. Co-engineered with Sony’s HDCAM SR VTRs, these cassettes use specially developed metal particles, a new binder dispersion system and new calendering technology to create higher density recordings capable of capturing wavelengths to .29ìm.

Using metal particles 50% smaller than HDCAM tape, the improved magnetic characteristics yield: 2X the output (6-7dB) and 2.7X the recording density of HDCAM tape; 3.3X the density of D5-HD tape. Tele-File® labels: Placed under each cassette spine label at the factory, these contain a 1kB IC memory chip to capture content metadata. Each cassette is also packaged in specially designed album cases with superior tape protection characteristics that not only shut out dust but also absorb vibration and shock during shipment and rough handling. Key features include 3D Suspension- The reel holder absorbs and reduces shock received by the reels in both vertical and horizontal directions. Double lock- A double lock structure is used to reduce the chance of the cassette falling out of the case if its dropped. And Frame bumper- Large protrusions on the case edges also absorb impact if the case is dropped.
